How to Install Elasticsearch on Ubuntu

Step 1 – Install Java (Its necessary for dependencies)

# sudo apt-get update
installed apache2 on ubantu

# sudo apt install openjdk-8-jdk
installed apache2 on ubantu

# java -version
installed apache2 on ubantu

Step 2 – Installing from the APT repository

# sudo apt install apt-transport-https
installed apache2 on ubantu

Step 3 – Install and Download Elasticsearch

# wget -q0 – https://artifacts.elastic.co/GPG-KEY-elasticsearch | sudo apt-key add –
installed apache2 on ubantu

#echo “deb https://artifacts.elastic.co/packages/7.x/apt stable main” | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/elastic-7.x.list
installed apache2 on ubantu

Step 4 – Install Elasticsearch

# sudo apt-get update
installed apache2 on ubantu

# sudo apt-get install elasticsearch
installed apache2 on ubantu

Step 5 – Start Elasticsearch Service

# sudo systemctl daemon-reload

# sudo systemctl enable elasticsearch.service
installed apache2 on ubantu

# sudo systemctl start elasticsearch.service

# sudo service elasticsearch status
installed apache2 on ubantu

Step 6 – Test Elasticsearch

# curl localhost:9200 or http://localhost:9200
installed apache2 on ubantu
